AARP Services then founded AARP Financial Incorporated, another subsidiary that manages AARP-endorsed financial products including AARP Funds. There is also AARP Global Network, The AARP Foundation which is AARP’s affiliated charity and NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community (formerly known as the National Retired Teachers Association). For more information on these different entities see AARP’s site click here.

Dick Morris who has been on open critic of AARP, told Greta Van Sustern on October 1st:

The liberals want to force the 10 plus million seniors on Medicare Advantage into Medigap which will cost them at a minimum of $100 more per month. WHY, Dick asks … Because AARP does not profit Medicare Advantage plans but they do sell Medigap and they want to force people into medigap so AARP can make more money – he noted, “that one was so deeply buried in the bill that It took me over a week to find it”. (59% of the Seniors now oppose the Health Care Reform Bill).

The hardest hit by the loss of Medicare Advantage are the Seniors making between $10,000 and $30,000 a year; and Minorities. See: AHIP Center for Policy and Research report – Low-Income & Minority Beneficiaries in Medicare Advantage Plans 2007, Released September 2009.

In 2007 AARP created “Divided We Fail” which is a web site, and I’m not exactly sure how to classify this program. According to Wikipedia:

In early 2007 AARP launched “Divided We Fail,” designed to address health care and long-term financial security. The initiative was launched with Business Roundtable and the Service Employees International Union, and encompasses advertising in national outlets and in the primary states, online activities, and traditional grassroots work, in order to engage the public, business and elected officials in the debate, and to encourage public leaders to offer solutions, according to the AARP.

Does that give you comfort knowing that AARP is in business with unions especially, SEIU – which isn’t exactly known for being bi-partisan. And SEIU is heavily tied to ACORN! Remember, it’s been SEIU members and ACORN members that worked together in protesting the Town Hall Meetings this past August. In September, when Glen Beck was honored by his home town Mt. Vernon, WA … nearly 400 SEIU and ACORN members were bussed in to protest Beck! That same day, Beck spoke at Safeco Field, in Seattle, to an estimated crowd of 7,000 normal citizens (meaning they looked just like your neighbor), there were a hand full of protesters outside and guess who got the media coverage?

Listen to Rep. Steve King on: De-fund ACORN – and how SEIU is part of their operational Arm:

This was a very well researched and thoughtful piece.

I did not know lots of the things about AARP that you brought to light. I learned a lot from reading this blog!

I too hope that this information can be brought more into the light of day.

Good job Sandy!

Follow the money. This is just another example of how far reaching the Obama administrations “spread the wealth” campaign is. This is nothing short of defrauding our senior ctizens at a time when they are most in need. We should not allow this crooked organization (not unlike acorn) to destroy those that cannot defend themselves. Remember, one day you will be a senior citizen to. God willing.

The more we look at things, the more crooked it gets. AARP does not need the seniors – we are (were) a front for them along with easy money. In addition to trying to get ready for surgery tomorrow, I had a death in the family and had to travel to North Carolina. When making a hotel reservation, I asked if the hotel gave a discount for AAA or AARP ( I had canceled my membership, but my husband is letting his lapse) I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised when the Marriott desk clerk answered “they did not give discounts to those organizations but if we produced identification showing we were seniors, we would receive a discount. The reason (given to me) AARP has dropped the age to 50, we don’t really consider that a senior. I was given a nice discount just by showing my drivers license.

AARP dropping the age is just giving them a larger group to appeal to for membership money, and, if more companies adapted Marriott’s outlook, that could hurt AARP membership or their play money as I call it. Don’t forget, when AARP sends you mail with a prepaid envelope, cut everything up they sent you, put it back in the prepaid envelope they furnished and mail it back to them. They have to pay that postage. One way or the other, we will get their attention. I am convinced they are tied in with ACORN, can’t prove it, but they are tied in with SEIU and SEIU and ACORN are certainly in bed together, it only stands to reason AARP is in it up to their necks with those two. So instead of twins – ACORN and SEIU, we now have triplets – ACORN, SEIU and AARP.
