ACORN – No Illegal Voter Left Behind

The first time I knew of ACORN was  in the 2004 hotly contested governor’s race in  Washington  state, which  was ultimately decided in favor of Democrat Christine Gregoire by 133 votes on a third recount. She lost the first 2 counts and the unions paid for the 3rd recount.   Questions   were  widely reported by the Seattle media about the involvement of  ACORN  methods used in registering voters.  Some “voters” were deceased, some were registered in storage lockers others registered using the Federal Building as their home address, and still others were ineligible felons. Extra ballots were “found” and declared valid 10 times during the vote count and recount.  In some precincts, more votes were cast than voters showed up at the polls.  Former U.S. attorney John McKay declined to pursue allegations of voter fraud.

Finally in 2007, Felony charges were filed against 7 ACORN members in WA state’s biggest case of voter-registration fraud.  Isn’t it interesting that when Republicans win elections, liberals are quick to cry fraud (Bush vs Gore).  But when actual fraud is found, they are just as quick to deny it, if Democrats are the ones who benefit.

According to NewsMax.com,  Sen. Norm Coleman, Minnesota Republican, held a slight lead by 215-vote, over his Democratic challenger, Al Franken, out of 2.9 million cast going into a recount. ACORN filed more than 43,000 new registrations in Minnesota, or about three-quarters of all new registrations prior to the election.

ACORN has been getting a great deal of national attention this past year, as one state after another have filed voter fraud cases against them.  The current focus in on the 2 young journalists that have taped  illegal activities in various ACORN offices.  The attention by the liberal media and liberal politicians is focused on the journalists possible wrong doing for taping without their permission, but they seem to have no interest in the actual illegal activities.  While ACORN receives tax payers dollars why is there no investigation called for by the liberal politicians.  I’m waiting for some specific liberal condemnation of ACORN for indulging in the following:

• giving tax evasion advice for illegal activities
• aiding in illegal immigration
• aiding child prostitution
• aiding in the establishment of a brothel
• participating in voter registration fraud
• mis-use of public funds

This week ACORN has announced their plans for an internal investigation.   According to an article in the Everett Hearld, Thursday 17, 2009:

ACORN will work with its advisory council, which includes prominent supporters of President Obama, such as John Podesta, president of the nonprofit Center for American Progress, and Andrew Stern, President of the Service  Employees International Union, to name an independent auditor and investigator.

According to the New York Post dated September 17, 2009:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.

“I don’t even know what they passed,” Pelosi told The Post yesterday. “What did they do? They defunded it?”

The liberal media is constantly pointing the finger at “Republicans” for pursuing investigations and defunding of  ACORN … but this shouldn’t be a partisan problem.  This organization has been receiving Tax Payers Money, with more to come  – Why is the Senate, Congress or Attorney General not pursuing the widely publicized illegal activities of ACORN?
